Flew Air France via Paris to Jan Smutts, then an internal flight to Port Elizabeth for a couple of nights in the Beach Hotel. Picked up hire car and drove to Kariega Lodge in Kariega Game park to see wildlife in the wild. Then set out along the Garden route, spending nights in Plettenburg (NH Plettenberg Bay, now closed), Oudtshoorn (Altes Landhaus Country Lodge) and Hermanus (Lavender Manor Guest Lodge), before arriving at Cape Town (Commodore Hotel). Took the Rovos rail train 'Pride of Africa' to Pretoria and a guided tour before flying home from Johannesburg.
